Matthew and Hannah met in April 2014 on the dating app Tinder. In a cocktail bar in London, they met for the first time and the rest is history! Matthew proposed to Hannah in South Africa in February 2018. They were stargazing after a delicious supper at a winery near Franschhoek when Matt proposed!
Hannah knew exactly where to take their engagement photos! In addition to the magnificent new wedding site, they wanted their engagement photo to mirror her home hamlet of Wimborne St Giles in Dorset. They selected Piccadilly Circus in London for their engagement session early on a Sunday morning to depict the ‘abandoned city at daybreak'. Aside from living and meeting in London, Piccadilly Circus' relationship to St Giles dates back to the 19th century.
Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, was a well-known Victorian politician and philanthropist. The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly Circus honours his efforts. The fountain, also known as Eros, is a popular tourist destination in London — explaining their desire to beat the crowds on a Sunday! St Giles House has a casting of the Fountain's angel Anteros pointing back towards Piccadilly Circus, whereas the Fountain's angel Anteros points south west to the village of St Giles.
It was worth the early start to wander around Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street, Leicester Square, Pall Mall, St James Park, and the surrounding region! I love how excited Matt and Hannah were for this photo. If you are in the market for wedding photographer Bournmouth or wedding photography Bournmouth then NickRutter is the place to go!
